Week 2

Week 10 - 2.jpeg

I am relying on God

Second week ladies and a great start

The bible tells us that we do not have the self-sufficiency to run this race alone. Don’t JUST use Him as your emergency call, his very presence living with us means we have access to the throne room 24/7.

Run to the Father.

This week I’ve been considering how much I actually rely on God day by day. How many battles, burdens and seemingly impossible situations I try to overcome, sort out and win in my own strength. It’s exhausting!

I need Him. I need His wisdom, His strength, His compassion and I need His daily word to encourage me to walk courageously forward. I need to do life with Jesus each day.

Run to the Father

I am relying on God.

“Relying on Him means Surrender ”

What do you think?

Week 3

He is my protector

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4

Protector, Fortress, Rock.

He is my protector

He is my shield

He is my Fortress

He is my hiding place

He is my keeper

He is my rock

He is my shade and shelter

He is my stronghold

Do you believe it?

“Surely Lord you bless the righteous, you surround them with your favour, as with a shield ” Psalm 5:12

Psalm 73:26

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the Rock and firm Strength of my heart and my Portion forever.” ‬

He is your Strength and your Portion forever. When everything around you seems to fail — trust in the Lord. He is your Rock. When everyone around you seems to fall and fade away — rely on the Lord. He is your Strength and Song. When things around you seem uncertain — establish your faith and trust in Him. - Vance K Jackson

He is my protector

Week 4

Week 10 - 4.jpeg

I am WORTHY

“Attempting to create self-worth on our own is inherently prideful because it implies that we think we can do a better job at it than God or that what He has given to us is not enough. In our modern world, it's easy to compare ourselves to others and find our value in how we measure up next to them. God measures our worth differently than mankind does:

"… For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart" (1 Samuel 16:7). The best way we can find a sense of self-worth is to focus our attention on how God sees us and has placed His worth on us. He values us far more than anyone else, even ourselves, can. We have infinite worth because of Christ (John 3:16). “

I am WORTHY

My worth and significance is solely dependent on who God is, NOT by our jobs, houses, cars, holidays, how much you serve in church, how many face book friends you have ......

Father - “ Son/daughter, this is what I have been waiting for, let’s have a party. You see yourself as a failure but I need you to know that it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with Me!”

Week 5

I am not alone

“ It is the Lord that goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed’ - Deut 31:8

I read this blog this weekend by Steve Buckland about the 3 main sources of lies. An interesting read as you journey through this weeks truth.

https://ignitinghope.com/.../three-main-sources-of-the.../

I am not alone

Week 10 - 5.jpeg

“Beer-Lahai-roi.”

The well of the living one who sees me. In these challenging times, with loneliness, isolation, a lack of empathy as everyone is in the storm, to know that God sees me/us, is an incredible truth! We are seen, known, lived, valued by The God who sees! - Paul Manwaring.

Gen 16:13-14

I am not alone

I am not alone.

YOU ARE SEEN

‘We don’t have to try to get God’s attention. He already sees us, and He reaches out. He meets us where we are whether we are happy, sad, hurt, confused, trying our best, or at our worst. Even when we don't realize it, He is pursuing us.’ - Lindsey Jacques

I read this helpful blog written by Lindsey, it’s encouraging and worth a short read

Week 6

Week 10 - 6.jpeg

I am FORGIVEN

Jesus gives us the perfect example of forgiveness. While in agony on the cross, Jesus called out, exclaiming “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)

Keep pressing into your Heavenly Father with each of these truths whether you believe them or not. There is still so much to learn about who He is and how He sees us. He will meet you where you are

I am FORGIVEN

Lord, help us learn to forgive as You have forgiven us. Freely. Completely. Not to excuse what’s been done to us, but to set us free. You are good. Your ways are good. And that means we can trust that forgiveness is good too. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. - Lysa TerKeurst

And a great song that reminds us of this truth!

Week 7

I am designed to hear God’s voice

“In the Bible, God speaks through dreams, visions, pictures, the scriptures, prophets, His audible voice, angels, miracles, and even a donkey! God is NOT limited in the ways He can communicate with us.” - Steve Long

Week 10 - 7.jpeg

I am designed to hear God’s voice

Revelation 2:7 - “Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says…”

We live in a very loud culture. The sound of our day is filled with the voices of media, news, politics, music, movies, sports, social media, friends, teachers, spouses, and much more. We hear it all, but have we heard the voice of God? God doesn’t have a speaking problem. We have a listening problem. He is speaking and it’s critical to hear what He is saying.

God speaks in many different ways:

• He speaks to us through the Bible

• He speaks to us through the experiences of life. Sometimes we learn the most about God from the things that happen to us. Often the circumstances of our lives are designed to wake us up…and to take us deeper.

• He speaks to us through His Spirit. He might use the teachings of a pastor, a writer, a singer, or he might whisper gently to your mind in an unmistakable and biblically consistent voice.

Sometimes we don’t hear because we are preoccupied and distracted. We are so busy with life that we spend most of our time on the run. We have obligations and commitments, responsibilities, and appointments.

Here’s a great question: Is God’s voice the loudest voice in your life?

Dallas Willard - “If God doesn’t speak today then the greatest disservice we could do to people is to tell them they can have a personal relationship with God.”

Hearing the voice of God requires…

Priority

If we aren’t willing to listen to everything God has to say, we won’t hear anything He has to say. If you want to hear his comforting voice, you have to listen to his convicting voice. It’s often what we want to hear least that we need to hear most.

If we aren’t intentional about hearing God’s voice, it probably won’t happen. We need to elevate the priority of listening to God. We want to hear what he has for us to do. We want to know what it is that he desires for our lives.

Proximity

Proximity means nearness in relationship. It is the desire to be close to God. The Bible says that when we draw near to God, he draws near to us.

Stillness

This is difficult for us, but we need to intentionally build quiet into our lives because our lives are almost alway noisy.

What does God want to say to me?

• Encouragement

• Warning

• Direction

• Calling

Challenge

Set aside time in your week to go ‘offline’ , book it in your diary if this helps. Spend time with your Heavenly Father and ask Him to speak to you, remember this is a process of leaning into Him. The more you do this, the more you will recognise your Fathers voice

Week 8

Week 10 - 8.jpeg

My prayers are powerful and effective

“[Prayer is] when you talk to God with the edit button in the off position and you feel safe and heard and loved. It’s the kind of relational exchange you can’t get enough of.” -John Mark Comer, God Has a Name.

“Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.” Matthew 6:8

’So let it not be said of us: “You do not have, because you do not ask” (James 4:2). Persevering work in the cause of truth and righteousness is a beautiful thing. God gives it. And God approves it. Never stop. But know this. God also loves to give breakthroughs in the twinkling of an eye.’ - John Piper

My prayer is powerful and effective

‘Notice, for Jesus of Nazareth, prayer was the center point of His life with God, woven into the fabric of his day to day existence, into His morning routine, into His weekly schedule, into the warp and woof of his humanity, He made time for it even if He was busy’

- John Mark Comer

A great sermon to listen to by Simon Holly from Kings Arms church Bedford called

‘Prayer- The artillery of heaven’

My prayers are powerful and effective.

Coming to the end of this our 8th week of biblical truths, I hope you have been encouraged in your journey of prayer. We can believe that God not only hears you, but He loves to partner with you in bringing the kingdom into your life and to the people and situations that you are praying for.

’God loves it when His children pray BIG, BOLD PRAYERS. Don’t be afraid to ask your Father for anything’ - Christine Caine

Week 9

I am an encourager

A faith that hopes. (Hebrews 6:9)

‘ We can encourage others not just with our words and actions, but also by living our lives in a way that shows the people around us that we are hoping in Jesus, and trusting in him alone.

I know that for me, some of the most powerful moments of encouragement in my own faith haven’t just come from words someone has said to me, but by the way someone has lived their life hoping in God. I look at the way that friends like Hannie keep on trusting in Jesus, even when things are painful and hard, and I am encouraged in my own faith, because I see that living for God is worth it.

If we choose to recognise God’s goodness and sovereignty even in the most difficult chapters of our lives, we can encourage others to realise what this same promise means for their own lives.

Matthew 5:16 says this (TPT version):

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

It can be really, really hard to put Jesus first all the time – and we shouldn’t be discouraged when we inevitably fall short (that’s where grace kicks in!). But wouldn’t it be wonderful to try and live so clearly for Jesus that we end up encouraging others by the faith that we have, and pointing them to the hope we have.

POINT TO HOPE, BRING LIGHT, AND BE AN ENCOURAGER!’

Week 10 - 9.jpeg

I am an encourager.

Do you know someone or have someone in your life that is an amazing encourager? They will find the gold in anyone and show genuine encouragement to that person! I believe that encouragement can turn situations around , break negativity and brings the kingdom down in that moment!

Supernatural encouragement!!

Have you ever tried to encourage someone straight after they have been rude or unkind to you? What was their reaction?

When my son Ethan was about 8 years old, he loved playing football at school either during break times or after school clubs. I thought he played well and had some skill (biased Mum ). One of the other boys in the team was always shouting at him and calling him names when he made a mistake, missed a goal or didn’t pass when they thought he should have.

We had many bedtime tears at home and lots of prayers and I said to Ethan, if this boy calls you an unkind name again, you say something encouraging back to him and let’s see what happens. We prayed for the boy that night and Ethan went to sleep.

When I picked him up from football practice the next day, Ethan came out and I asked him how the game went and he said this,

‘You know that boy Mum?’

‘Yes’

‘The one who calls me names and is unkind?’

‘Yes’

‘Well, I missed a goal today and he shouted at me that I was rubbish at football and a pumpkin head!’

(Me sighing )

‘But guess what? I told him he was amazing at football and I was glad to be on his team!! ’

‘Wow! And what did he say?’

‘He smiled at me for a bit, I don’t think he knew what to say, and then he said thanks and high fived me’

We don’t always know what other people are going through in their lives, and of course this is not an excuse for rudeness, but every day we have countless opportunities to speak gold and encourage them, spuring them on in their faith and in all that God has made them to be!!!

COME ON LADIES!!!

I have the privilege of having a close friend called Jo Lee in my life. She is by far one of the most encouraging people I know and someone who is constantly spuring me on in my journey with God. Here is a short talk Jo has recorded about her personal thoughts on encouragement. Enjoy

Keep encouraging

I am an encourager

So ladies we come to the end of the 9th week of biblical truths and I am so encouraged to hear so many people pursuing the truth or who they are and who our Father is.

I think that as an end to this week, and thinking about how our world has been the last 18months, a song you must have all heard and as an encouragement to one another, enjoy the song below.

Keep encouraging and bringing joy and hope to those that God brings along your paths

Week 10

Week 10 - 10.jpeg

Week 10 and final week of our biblical truths in this block, but let’s not become complacent, there are many more truths to be pursued and believed! Don’t wait for someone to list them all to you, make it your desire to be all that God wants you to be and pursue them faithfully, because he is faithful.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me Phil 4:13

****read in context context context ****

Remember that when Paul the apostle wrote this, he was in prison!!!!

’Paul looked to the spiritual provision of Jesus Christ to find strength, hope, joy, peace, and contentment in even his darkest situation. It is this power that transforms hearts and frees minds oppressed by the discouragement of present circumstances.

And in a time when his own circumstances were limited, Paul turned to Christ for the strength to be content and still have joy. The same power that could deliver him from prison in an instant was the power that was daily transforming Paul’s heart to become more like Christ’s own.

In Christ, there is true strength. In Him, there is hope, joy, and peace that surpass all understanding and situations (Philippians 4:7), which Paul himself had experienced firsthand and later professed in his letter to the Philippians.

If anything, Paul had revealed his greatest secret to some of his closest friends and supporters. And it is a secret Christians today share in, one that is just as encouraging and life-giving as it was the day it was first read by the early church.’

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Am I believing the lie that - If and when I get ________ then I will be content, then I will be happy?

This is misplaced worship, worship of the creation rather than the Creator!

****Remember the context of this verse****

Quote Matt Chandler in his book- To live is Christ to die is gain

‘You can’t take Philippians 4:13 and make it mean you can do anything you want. That’s not what Paul is saying. In context, he is saying, “I’ve learned to be content when I received everything I want; I learned to be content when I got nothing I wanted. I can do either one by the power of Christ.” When Paul says, “To live is Christ, and to die is gain,” he means it. If you want to kill me, I will be more than fine: I will get to be with Jesus. My death will be filled with Christ. And if you want to let me live, I will press on in mission. My life will be filled with Christ. If you want to torture me or imprison me or mock me, I will trust in God. My suffering will make me like Christ. I will see it as a sharing of His own suffering.’

A great sermon by John Mark Comer - link below
